My weight loss Journey

7/7/2026

Here we are in July already! Where does the time go?!

My daughter has turned 18, and started staying over at her boyfriend’s over night.

I really want to find a new life for me, now I’m not needed as ‘mum’ at home anymore. That’s all tied in with losing weight and getting my energy levels back.

Today I finally feel like going to the gym!

I weighed in at 84.6KG yesterday. My clothes are all too big now. But I’m wearing them with belts etc, because there’s not much point buying more yet, while I’m still losing weight.

I did buy a new T-shirt in the supermarket at the weekend, and had to ask a lady what a 16 looked like on me. I was surprised when she without a pause, said oh! You need the next size down. It’s huge on you. So I bought a size 14! That’s the first time for over a decade maybe even 13 years!

It is happening. Slowly. I just have to get to the gym right now, after eating my boiled egg breakfast!

If you are also on a weight loss journey, keep going! It takes time but it’s all worth it in the end. My best tip is eat protein for snacks, or fruit. And eat smaller portions.

I’m eating one meal a day, over lunch and dinner. An egg for breakfast. No bread. No potatoes. No pasta. Mainly rice and chicken, veg & fruit. One decaf coffee per day. Surprisingly I have more energy since giving up caffeine.

I don’t really drink alcohol only on special occasions. I don’t deny the odd cube of chocolate or apple and cheese. But generally I don’t feel like sweet things anymore.

My downfall previously was ice cream and chocolate. My son said make these two swaps. Change ice cream for ice lollies. Mini ones. Like mini twisters, or orange juice ice lollies, or sorbet.

Buy individually wrapped high cocoa chocolate not a bar of chocolate. If I have any, it’s generally just one or two and I don’t want more. These two changes alone – along with less bread pasta and potatoes in the first year, was what helped me lose 11KG without any weight loss drugs.

Now on the weight loss drug I have such a small appetite that I struggle to eat enough calories so I must make sure what I do eat, is of high nutritional value.

I hope these tips help somebody else too.

Sam
